Luminaire Training Event

April 10th & 11th

This is a hands-on, two-day event for Luminaire owners who want to learn all the fun things you can use on your machines to make your sewing and embroidery easier!

Jay will be teaching these classes in our large classroom and you will be able to follow along on your machine as you watch what he does on the big screen in the front of the room!  These classes are wonderful for those just getting used to their machine, and also for those wanting to refresh their knowledge of what their machine can do!

Lesson Schedule:

Wednesday Morning;

• Learn the neat features of the sewing side of the machine!  Things like;
  • Using the projector to audition your stitches to see what fits or looks best
  • Using the sewing guide lines for various sewing and quilting applications
  • Learning how to work with the MuVit foot to make sewing multiple layers much easier
  • Learning how to program your own stitches
  • Learning what all the adjustments mean in the settings pages for your machine.

Wednesday Afternoon:

• This will be focused on the embroidery side of the machine.  We will cover these areas and more if we have time;
  • Using the projector to verify embroidery placement
  • Using the snowman sticker for quick, accurate design placement
  • Learning how to turn any embroidery design into a quilted block
  • Learning how to use the border quilting function (Requires Upgrade 1)
  • Learning how to combine designs
  • Learning how to use the Auto Applique tool
  • Learning what all the various buttons in our tool box mean.

Thursday Morning:

• In this class period, we are focusing on the My Design Center with two basic sub-sections;
  • Creating designs from scanned images
    • We will take a couple print outs, and turn them into stitches
      • Both quilting line patterns, and filled patterns
    • We will also be looking at drawing designs from on our own and how we can use them in our embroidery and quilting
  • Using the Center to quilt pre-existing quilt blocks
    • Where we scan in a quilt block and then insert quilting in certain areas without crossing into other spaces.
      • This part is much easier with a Magnetic Frame hoop.  If you do not have one, let us know, and we can get one shipped to you before the class if you want one.

Thursday Afternoon:

• This is going to be “your time”.   You can set up with each person to their own table and you will be able to work on any of the things that we taught.  If there are certain applications that you want to use these tools on, then this is the time to practice putting them to use.
• We will come around the class and spend some one-on-one time with you to go over any areas that you want help with.

Cost:

This class is FREE to those of you who purchased your machine from our store, or were adopted!  It is one of our many ways of saying “thanks” for your trust and business.  Simply message us and we will give you a code that will reduce the cost to zero.  If you purchased your machine elsewhere, that is fine.  We still like you! 🙂  But we will be charging a class fee and feel quite confident that it will be WELL worth your time and investment!

Food:

Snacks and coffee will be provided, but lunches will be on your own.

Materials:

All Materials will be provided!  For some of the items, simple small scraps of fabric can be used, but there will be times that I will be giving you a section of material and I want you to work with that to learn the skills being taught.
