Claudia’s Cutting Corner

Hello!

This is Claudia writing to you from my corner of the store; the fabric department!

Over the past months, we have been working to expand what we carry for fabric, and have even had to build more storage for all of our new bolts!  Here is a brief overview of what our store offers.

Cotton

We have an array of cotton fabrics, including over 60 bolts of Bali Watercolor Batiks, options for 90” wide backing, and 105 bolts of brand new Painter’s Palette Solids!  Additionally, we have a clearance shelf with some All Minnesota Shop Hop fabrics from years past, and a few other patterned prints, all discounted 30%.  Cotton fabrics are great for piecing quilts, making bags, constructing other small items, backing embroidery or applique projects, and they even have some home decor application.

Flannel

We have a small collection of flannel here in store; some floral patterns, and some winter themed bolts.  And some plaid too of course! (Plaid is my favorite🙂) Flannel is perfect for quilt backing, and patching or modifying clothing.  Keith just lined a pair of pants with flannel last week!

Cuddle

Our Shannon Cuddle is essentially a premium quality minky.  We carry multiple different styles of Cuddle, such as Printed designs, Cloud Cuddle, Luxe, and 90” wide solids.  Pricing varies, and depends on width, type, and pile.  We have over 75 bolts of this luxurious fabric, and even a handful of pre-cut rolls that measure 3yds x 110”!  So yes, perfect for your queen sized quilt! Cuddle and minky are most commonly used to back quilts and blankets.

Batting

We carry 90” wide batting, by the yard, off the roll, as well as brand new pre-cut batting bundles from American Fiber Products!  Sizing ranges from crib all the way to king, and includes everything in between.  All sizes are available in 100% Cotton, 80/20 Natural Comfort (a polyester blend), and Bamboo.  We also carry Insul-Bright for any heat sensitive projects, and Hoop Sisters Battilizer, which acts as both a stabilizer and batting for ‘in the hoop’ quilting with an embroidery machine.

We hope to continue to add bolts and further grow our fabric department here at A Stitch In Time.  Feel free to browse the next time you’re in for a machine service, or stop by anytime.  As Keith mentioned last week, our winter hours are upon us, and we will be open 9-5 again Mondays through Saturdays starting September 12th.  Come to shop or to show us what projects you’ve been working on!  I love to visit and talk sewing!

Well, that’s all for now.  I hope everyone has a great start to fall!
