Pro-Stitcher Designer Class – Virtual

Evening Classes! 6:00 – 8:00 PM Central Time

This set of four (4) classes will give you a well-rounded view of this amazing software!   Allison Spence is a very good teacher and will take you through this software that will work with almost any quilting machine out there!  This class will be an evening class so that hopefully more people can attend.  We also are holding this class virtually (via zoom) so that you can absorb it in smaller bites without needing to drive the whole way to our store!  Once you register for the class, you will be able to download a document with the link to click when it comes time to join the class. *NOTE*  Since we are holding this class, we will NOT be covering this software at our big truck event in May, so if you want to learn Designer, then this is the time to do it!

Here is what will be taught during the sessions!

April 7th: 6:00PM

Designer is an amazing, easy-to-learn software that is capable of doing much more than you could have imagined!  Take your quilting up a notch by designing your own digital or stencil quilting patterns. Introduction to Designer will show the ability of this program to quickly and easily create, edit, and customize any digital design.  Allison will show you many of the easy-to-use features so that you can see how comfortable it is to create your own designs.

April 9th: 6:00PM

In this class we will show you how to use the shape tools to work with designs and artwork so that you can either draw your own designs from scratch, or tweak those you already have.  The neat part with this is that say you have a design that you like the one element in it, but don’t like the rest of it?  We will show you how to remove that part and use it to create your own stand-alone design!  We also will go over how to transfer the design to your longarm and stitch it out.

April 14th: 6:00PM

In this class we go over how to use the Auto-digitizing basics including the magic wand to help do some of the digitizing for you!  We also will show you the carousel tool to either reflect, make rays, or echo quilting to create your own unique quilt blocks!  And lastly, but certainly not leastly, (LOL) we will show you how to create your own edge-to-edge designs by connecting them together and making them work nicely!

April 16th: 6:00PM

Name Your Quilt! You can create names and phrases in Pro-Stitcher Designer and stitch it onto a quilt.  Send a special message to the recipient of a quilt in the form of stitching.  It will surprise and amaze them!  By creating text in Designer you can also stitch a quilt label onto the backing!  We also will go over the artwork tools of trim, weld, and intersect.  When you should use them, and why.

Meet our HQ Educator!

Allison Spence has a long association with crafting in the form of knitting, sewing and quilting. Her introduction to quilting was a tied quilt given to her newborn daughter by her sister-in-law over 30 years ago. Allison enjoys all areas of quilting but prefers simple piecing designs, so she can get to the quilting part!

After quilting many large quilts on a domestic sewing machine, Allison purchased a HQ Sweet Sixteen® stationary machine which was well used for many years. She now owns an HQ Avanté and loves the freedom of quilting both smaller and larger projects with ease.

Allison has an education degree from the University of Manitoba and many years experience teaching aquatics. She began teaching sewing and quilting while working at a sewing machine dealer in Calgary, Alberta. She owned her own fabric store and sewing school. She now has a studio and classroom in her home and does customer quilts as well as longarm machine rentals and offers a variety of sewing and quilting classes.

Taking great pleasure in teaching the basic and intermediate skills in all areas of quilting, Allison encourages students to go further and see what they can do on their own. She especially loves to quilt and teach feathers!

Allison currently lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and has a very supportive husband.  Her daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and grandson live near by.
