Pro-Stitcher Designer Class – Virtual
Evening Classes! 6:00 – 8:00 PM Central Time
This set of four (4) classes will give you a well-rounded view of this amazing software!  Nicholas Turcan is a very good teacher and will take you through this software that will work with almost any quilting machine out there! This class will be an evening class so that hopefully more people can attend. We also are holding this class virtually so that you can absorb it in smaller bites without needing to drive the whole way to our store! Once you register for the class, you will be able to download a paper with the link to click when it comes time to join the class. *NOTE* Since we are holding this class, we will NOT be covering this software at our big truck event in May, so if you want to learn Designer, then this is the time to do it!
Here is what will be taught during the sessions!
April 8th: 6:00PM
Designer is an amazing, easy-to-learn software that is capable of doing much more than you could have imagined! Take your quilting up a notch by designing your own digital or stencil quilting patterns. Introduction to Designer will show the ability of this program to quickly and easily create, edit, and customize any digital design.  Karen will show you many of the easy-to-use features so that you can see how comfortable it is to create your own designs.
April 10th: 6:00PM
You have a beautiful quilt top. You think a particular pattern will look good stitched on it, but you’re not sure. In this class, you will learn how to load a picture of your quilt top into Designer, bring in the quilting pattern you think will look good, and show you down to the thread color what your quilt will look like finished!
April 15th: 6:00PM
Making changes to an existing digital design is easy in Designer. Double Wedding Ring blocks are not created equal! Patterns can be different, as well as seam allowance. Make small changes in Designer to make an existing design fit perfectly.
April 17th: 6:00PM
Name Your Quilt! You can create names and phrases in Pro-Stitcher Designer and stitch it onto a quilt. Â Send a special message to the recipient of a quilt in the form of stitching. Â It will surprise and amaze them! Â By creating text in Designer you can also stitch a quilt label onto the backing!
Meet our HQ Educator!
Nicholas Turcan is a multitalented and very creative individual. His journey into quilting began in 2012 with one quilt that quickly turned into several, which made him realize that he needed a better way to finish these quilt tops than a small, domestic-sized machine.
In 2014, Nicholas purchased the HQ Fusion® to help with this task. It didn’t take very long to realize that the creativity this machine unleashed from within him deserved to be shared. To further feed his quilting obsession, he took a part-time job at a local quilt shop, where his passion for fabrics, quilting, and designing patterns grew. He is now a talented longarm quilter who helps his clients enhance their quilts with his creativity. In 2020 after the pandemic struck and things shut down, he took a moment to decide what he wanted to do with his life and decided to become a full-time quilter! Taking the plunge and investing in Pro-Stitcher® Premium allowed him to keep up with the overflow of quilts that started to pour in from every housebound quilter.
Early in 2021, Nicholas had the chance to lease a coveted studio on Granville Island and move into a much larger space, which has allowed him to set up a in-person classroom as well as create a small filming studio for virtual classes, trunk-shows, and video tutorials.
In addition to long-arm quilting for customers, he has started to teach free-motion quilting workshops, where students can learn the confidence and skills required to further their own quilting abilities.
